What is Sport to One May be Death to Another – Standard & Long Version

Once there was a large pond in a quiet village. The pond was full of green frogs. They lived happily in the cool water among the lotus leaves and water plants. During the daytime, many frogs would raise their heads above the water and croak loudly. Their croaking filled the air, especially in the afternoon and evening. The frogs were enjoying their natural life without disturbing anyone.

One sunny afternoon, a group of village boys came near the pond to play. They were cheerful and energetic. While playing beside the pond, they suddenly heard the loud croaking of the frogs. At first, they became curious and moved closer to the water. Soon, one of the boys picked up a small stone and threw it at a frog just for fun. Seeing this, the other boys also started throwing stones into the pond.

Whenever a stone hit the water, the boys laughed loudly. They found great amusement in frightening the frogs. Some frogs quickly disappeared under the water to save themselves. Others were badly hurt by the stones. A few frogs were struck directly on their heads and bodies. The peaceful pond soon turned into a place of fear and suffering.

After some time, the boys stopped for a moment and waited quietly beside the pond. Thinking that the danger was over, several frogs slowly raised their heads above the water again. But the cruel boys immediately began throwing stones once more. This time, many frogs were seriously injured, and a few died instantly. The frogs became terrified and helpless.

At last, an old frog gathered courage and slowly lifted its head above the water. In a weak and painful voice, it said, “Oh boys, please stop this cruel game. Do not throw stones at us anymore.”

One of the boys replied carelessly, “Why should we stop? We are only playing and enjoying ourselves.”

Then the old frog sadly answered, “What is sport to you is death to us. Your fun is bringing pain and destruction to our lives.”

Hearing these words, the boys suddenly realized their mistake. They understood how cruel they had been. Shame filled their hearts. They threw away the stones and quietly left the place, promising never to hurt innocent creatures again.

What is Sport to One May be Death to Another (Bangla Version) –

  1. People who cause unnecessary pain and suffering to other innocent people should stop doing this. Since they(others) didn't do any harm to them, they should not play such cruel fun. This may be a fun for the former but it may end up in doing incalculable harm to the later.
